Garnier Agency Wins Bronze at El Sol 2026 with Accent RRResistance

Held in Málaga, Spain, El Sol brought together some of the most influential agencies, brands, and creative leaders across the region for its 40th edition, once again reinforcing its position as one of the most prestigious festivals in the Ibero-American advertising industry.  

An Idea Born from Costa Rican Pride 

Accent RRResistance was inspired by a deeply cultural observation: the unique way Costa Ricans pronounce the letter “R.” What had long been a source of jokes or stereotypes became a symbol of identity and national pride. 

The campaign encouraged people to stop hiding their accent and celebrate it openly. Through a voice-recognition-powered digital experience, users were invited to pronounce the distinctive Costa Rican “R” to unlock filters and content, transforming a linguistic trait into a collective statement of identity. 

The movement extended beyond digital platforms into packaging, user-generated content, and cultural conversations that helped foster pride in the Costa Rican way of speaking. 

A Recognition of Regional Creativity 

This award at El Sol reaffirms the ability of ideas born in Central America to compete on the international stage, demonstrating that authentic cultural insights remain one of the most powerful tools for building relevant and meaningful brands.

In addition to his role as a juror, Sergio attended the festival to represent the agency and connect with creative leaders, advertisers, and professionals from across Ibero-America in discussions focused on creativity, innovation, technology, and the future of brands.
